How Celebrity Chefs changed our concept of eating

Philip showed the Nation how to make lobster vol-au-vents during his first broadcast but as Britain was still subject to food rationing following the War he would often use his own rations to show his audience how to make Steak & Kidney Pie and how to cook chips. He may well have been the first but he set the path for the rise of the Celebratory Chef and more importantly the way the British Nation view food, cookery and the kitchen.

Fanny Craddock, Keith Floyd, Ken Hom, Delia Smith, Jamie Oliver, Paul Hollywood. The list is extensive but each has one thing in common with the other, they have all influenced our daily view of eating and cooking and for the most part for the good. During the 1940’s the emphasis was on cooking healthy food on a budget with ingredients sourced from as local as possible, often the cooks own garden, not least because War time food rationing did not end until July 1954.

What prompted modern day Football Trophies?

Since ancient times trophies have marked victories, in fact, the word “trophy” is derived from the Greek tropaion, which comes from the verb trope, meaning “to rout.” In ancient Greece, trophies reflected victory in war, and were created on the battlefield at the place where the enemy had been defeated.

At that time some sporting trophies included shields originally used in battle, thought to be the inspiration for the Wooden Shields we give today, but some contestant winners were given prized Olive oil which was naturally held in a vase or cup. This is most likely to be a forerunner to the silver cups and chalices that we use as trophies to this day.

For many years where a trophy was presented for Annual Perpetual Challenge, that is competed for every year, the Winners name was recorded on the original trophy cup, usually by engraving, however it became tradition to award a small replica of the original trophy cup so that the Winner had a memento to display at home after the main trophy had been returned. These replica cups became the fore runner of the Football Trophies that we award today.

Important Considerations While Selecting Trophies

Trophies are an open acknowledgment of someone’s spectacular achievements. They are an absolute way of recognizing excellence in any field. While earlier it was limited to sports like gymnastic trophies or horse trophies, it is now being increasingly given for just about anything. Let’s look into some key considerations while selecting any trophy.

Size and weight

These are very important attributes while selecting any trophy. A balance between the size and weight should always be there. Size is a very important consideration. For instance, swimming trophies for children need to be much smaller and lighter than those that would be awarded to adults. A child may not be able to handle a large trophy while it would look ridiculous to hand out a small size trophy to an adult. The weight is also crucial. For instance, if you are presenting gardening trophies to contestants of senior age group, they need to be big enough but should be of lighter weight so that it is easy to carry by them.

It represents the ultimate thrill of competing against their opponents emerging as the ultimate winner. It does not matter how much the trophy is worth, What’s important is that it stands as the symbol of hard work poured in to achieve success which is then recognized and appreciated by all though it. It offers several benefits like:-

Value the competition winner

We already know that the trophy represents the ultimate reward for the winner’s hard work, dedication, and perseverance. It is due to this fact that it is vital to choose the trophy with extreme care. For instance, while picking up sports trophies like the rugby trophies to dish out to achievers, you cannot use the “any old thing” approach as it is bound to backfire and create an environment of resentment. It will not serve its purpose of creating an atmosphere where non-achievers will develop dedication and will power to scale higher levels of achievement.

Reward hard work and honor achievements

The importance of trophies lies in its powerful impact on the confidence, motivation, and inspiration of an individual. This need not be limited to just national or international events and professional teams. Today, they can be used even by small organizations, local communities, clubs, etc. to motivate others. Be it the best sportsman of the club or the most awesome mom of the community. The trophies form the best medium of rewarding the hard work and honor the achievements of the successful people.

Value the employees

In the realm of business, corporate awards serve a vital function of commending the staff for their achievements as well as motivate others to try to attain it as well. It is not uncommon today for businesses today to reserve their traditional, personalized corporate award for their special, valued employees or clients. Alternately many businesses have now accepted the norm of rewarding their employees on a more frequent basis which may be monthly or even weekly. Today rewarding ‘employee of the month’ is a common award in all organizations, whether big or small. While this motivates one achiever to scale higher heights, it also motivates other no achievers to work harder to get that trophy. Thus, the efficiency and productivity of the company improve with the small introduction of trophies in it.

Things to Know About Motor Sports Trophies

These awards are there to strengthen the bond between the company or people presenting these awards and the people receiving those awards. This goes for every sector, which includes the ceremony for presenting awards, such as, sports, education, corporate sector and more.

• The Occasion To Consider:

Any kind of sports trophy is a great way to boost one’s confidence. There are many sports which get unnoticed and ignored, due to the presence of some heavyweight sports. This is why one requires special attention towards the otherwise lesser known sports. Motor sports are also quite amusing in their own way. Many people are deeply involved in these kinds of games. This is why one needs to consider the occasion before opting out a single trophy to present.
