Different Types of Sports Trophies and Awards to Choose From

Sports trophies are available in many types, styles and sizes to suit very budget and occasion. It can be inexpensive participation trophies like that for all members of a local hockey team to big championship trophies like chess trophies for world championship titles. Let’s look into few of its types –

  • The cheapest awards are medals, dog tags, and bag tags. These are often used on local levels or given away as participation acknowledgment.
  • Next are the economy trophies or cheap trophies. Often, these are simple in design with a marble base, a figurine and possibly a column.  The marble base lacks any felt pads. These are ideal for local level competitions or interschool competitions. For instance, they would be ideal ten pin trophies at any competition. They can even be personalized with the option of getting the writings printed instead of being engraved.

  • Next are the participation trophies. They typically have a plastic figurine which could be a sports team players or a representation of the sport. It can also have a column between the sports figure and the base which can be of wood, marble or plastic. Sometimes the figurine is directly mounted on the base. These trophies have felt pads at the base to protect furniture. These are extremely popular as tennis trophies.

  • Resin trophies show some interesting designs and life-like details. Since these trophies are made from petroleum-derived products, their prices fluctuate according to the price of oil.
  • Subsequent variety is plaques. You can find numerous configurations here. Usually, these have an icon of the sport mounted on the plague with allotted space for personalized engraving. Picture plaques or photo plaques are also common varieties where a team photo can be mounted on an engraved plate for personalization.
  • Next in line are championship trophies which can be in multi-column designs; can be winning cup trophies or even perpetual trophies. The winning team or individual gets this trophy which is of somewhat bigger size. Often these are accompanied with individual trophies for each team members to commemorate the occasion. A special type of championship trophy is the perpetual trophy. Typically large, these are also termed as traveling trophies. Here the winner does not keep the trophy throughout his lifetime but needs to pass on to the next winner. The time duration could be weekly, monthly or even annually. Often, the names of the winners are engraved in its planks.
